A vacancy has arisen at Stamford Brook for an Engineering Manager who will be responsible for the complete management of engineering at the garage. As part of this you will ensure the provision of reliable vehicles in sufficient numbers meeting operational requirements. Reporting to the Fleet Engineer, the Engineering Manager will also play a key part in the operational management of the garage.
As Engineering Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are maintained to the correct standards and for controlling all principle engineering functions such as daily services, planned maintenance schedules, fuel consumption and unplanned maintenance requirements. Critically you will need to monitor and manage engineering activity within agreed budget constraints and ensure that adequate costs controls are in place.
You will also be responsible for motivating and managing the engineering team at the garage, including external contractors, and ensuring that they are provided with a safe and pleasant working environment.
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant engineering qualification; you will have a good understanding of Health and Safety, ideally NEBOSH qualified with proven people management skills and the ability to lead change. Good communication and influencing skills are essential, as is the ability to be able to prioritise conflicting demands on their time. They must be capable of making quick decisions and solving problems, as well as coping with tight timescales.
